What is Join By Text?
Join By Text is a service that lets people sign-up for your email list by sending a text message. This is especially effective for capturing email addresses at events, at a physical location, or as a call-to-action in traditional media ads (print, radio, TV, etc.) Your sign or ad copy would say something like “Text SIGNUP to 12345 and get a special offer when you join our email list!”
How Does Text to Join for GetResponse Work?
After someone sends a text message with their email address Join By Text automatically passes this email address into your GetResponse account and signs them up under the appropriate list. Whatever welcome or offer email you have configured for new subscribers will be sent to them immediately after they confirm their opt-in (it works just like a signup on your website).
How Do I Setup this Service?
To setup a Join By Text account and attach the sign ups to your GetResponse account you will need to retrieve the HTML web form signup code for the list you want to use. If you need help creating a web form, or finding the code, check out the video below –
Along with that form code you will also pick a keyword your users will text to a five-digit number to sign-up for your list. This should be one word and preferably a word that’s easy to spell.
Finally, you will decide what auto-response messages the Join By Text system will send back to users who are signing up for your list. The first message will ask for their email address and the second will confirm receipt and give them any other important details, like a link to your mobile website.
You will provide us with your keyword choice(s), web form code, and response messages when you create your account. Once your account is live you will be able to login and change your response messages at anytime.
